AboutAnthony Miller AKA DJ Miller has been into dance music and hypnotic grooves since he can remember (so last week really), however, if one night or day had to be picked as the moment he went from being into dance music and obsessed with DJing, technology and clubs it was after checking out Fatboy Slim and Armand Van Heldan in a boxing ring style DJ match in Dublin’s Point Depot circa 1999. Van Heldan’s chunky beats, rockin’ rhythms and disco inspired funk was nothing compared to the Right Here! Right Now! Epiphany. Big Beats, brak beats, Acid Basslines and full on party vibes inspired Miller into becoming a DJ, exploring the club scene, learning about its Detroit and Chicago history, the German and Belgian Trance sound and the hedonistic atmosphere of Irish and British clubs a generation on from the halcyon days of the Acid House revolution. Miller took a job in Richer Sounds Hi Fi retailer and later their specialist DJ store, X Music, to earn enough to get a set of Turntables and within three weeks after getting his first set of Turntables he was starting a residency in The Vatican playing hard house and the odd cross over tune. Guest spots at K2, Club Sarah, various college and student Discos helped him earn his stripes and find his own sound and inimitable style. A residency at Handle’s café bar and more and more guest spots, including Mono, Switch (The Hub), Temple Bar Music Centre, Red Box and various other irish locations and got to guest in Spain (Porta Banus), USA (Washington DC) and South Africa (Durban). Since then Miller has been a regular feature on the Dublin club scene, regularly playing at The Hub, Voodoo, Temple Bar Music Centre, Radio City/Isaac Butts, and The Vaults supporting the worlds crème de la crème of DJ superstars and underground heroes, such as C J Bolland, Marco Bailey, Space DJz, Agnelli & Nelson, Marko Nastic, Josh Wink, Alex Smoke, Marco Bernardi, Fabrice Lig and K-Klass and Njoi. Working as part of the nice & Nasty team, helping set up Dublin Xpress recordings and working closely with Produse and Teknaphonik in studio is taking Miller’s skills to the next level. Studying sound production with Pulse studios and carrying out Sound Installations for Richer Sounds/X Music has afforded him increased ability to recognise a room’s acoustics and the crowds feeling to simply throw down some beats and wreck da gaff. As A&R with DXR (Dublin Xpress) and an integral member of Nice & Nasty Miller is also on the look out for fresh and exciting talent. There is no show he wont do no crowd he wont rock! Big venues like Tri-Pod, underground holes like The Hub or tents in a field like Planet love, Miller has not disappointed many, many people many, many times and aims to do so for a long time to come.
