The second reference of Stick & Stones Label follows the high quality line. It comes from the hands of Rodrigo DP with an original mix, 'Crimeshock' and an amazing remix from J-Ka. The first track amazes us with a very developed and perfectibility beat of the future generation and the bassline gives the track the life, breaking with all what we knew until now about Minimal music. The second track is a great remix by J.Ka, a real hit and the best what you could wish for a closing of an EP. This track was played promo by Ritchie Hawtin in the summer 2009, a real dance floor hit which has groove and an amazing quality.

Andrew Duke is a techno tour de force. The native of Canada he has strong networks in USA, Japan and Europe. He is a true believer and lover in all things underground and quality - Deep House, Acid House, Old School, Detroit Techno, Miinimal the man simply loves his music. Halifax, Nova Scotia can sometimes be a tough environment and even isolated and this is reflected in Duke's music; however, Duke's music also shines with the light and optimism of Hi Tech Soul, deep repetitive rhythms and a subtle yet cleansing funk. Andrew Duke's connection goes far and deep to the Irish labels DXR and Nice & Nasty. Over the past 2 years he has remixed Mick Chillage, Eight Minus Eight, Tomi Chair and Mike Absolom and after featuring Carnival on DXR Vol 2 the transatlantic journey went further with 3 of Europe's fresh remixers turning the tables on Duke. Tom Barcley & Joaquin Phunk (Austria), Catalepsia (France) and Mick Chillage (Ireland) are all on remix duty and between them take Carnival on a ride between funky house, ambient techno and chi-town style jackin' During this time Duke has also remixed and work with Static, Open Concept, Monkey Harris, Dialtone and Orlando Voorn whilst continuing to be a voice aong the techno community with his blogs and tiresome work under the guise Cognition Audio Works. 2009 introduced Andrew Duke to the world and 2010 is going to be his year.

Bullet:dodge Records release `Dirty Word' by My Evil Twiin. Continuing the fine form that made 2009 an incredibly successful year for the fledgling label, Bullet:dodge Records start the new decade with a bang, releasing the highly anticipated `Dirty Word' by My Evil Twiin. As the follow up to last year's stunning `Man Made Machines' EP, `Dirty Word' contains all the driving, progressive machine soul that we have to come expect from this production team. And in true Bullet:dodge style the release also features strong remixes from two of the labels big-hitters. The original track is a blistering six and a half minutes of menacing techno futurism. An opening salvo of storming rhythms and fx gives way to a Detroit inspired arpeggio that leads into a perfectly executed breakdown, modulated by a vocal sample that is so twisted, it appears to be the sound of a K-hole Darth Vader discussing House music. The second half of the tune winds down with a DJ friendly arrangement after successfully releasing the remainder of its energy in a way that will guarantee mass hysteria in a club environment. Contributing an idiomatic interpretation, label boss Gareth Whitehead retains much of the originals energy and manages to add a healthy portion of minimalism and tech-house flavour into the bargain. Featuring a shorter but no-less effective middle section break as well as the previously mentioned vocal madness, Gareth's remix uses restrained acid bass, swinging percussion and a razor sharp ride cymbal to drive a subtly swinging, funky groove. Also making a welcome return to action on the label is the irrepressible Hans Bouffmyre. With a work-rate so high it's a wonder he finds time to breath, this young man also had an incredibly fine 2009 with Bullet:dodge having the pleasure of releasing his `Turbulence' EP. With two subtle vocal samples oscillating against each other to underpin the groove, Hans keeps his remix simple with a clean production style and effective use of fx. Short controlled bursts of energy drive this track and the overall result adds a certain depth to the release. Bullet:dodge Records say farewell to the noughties and start 2010 as they mean to continue with the awesome `Dirty Word' by My Evil Twiin featuring remixes from Gareth Whitehead and Hans Bouffmyhre.

Bok Bok & L-Vis1990's NIGHT SLUGS, London's hub for futuristic club music, has gone from strength to strength in the last two years. 2010 sees the launch of the Night Slugs record label, bringing through a crew of supremely talented new protagonists. The label's first release is the 'Square One EP' from London producer MOSCA. The title track is already a potent anthem on the LDN underground, an iconic cross-section of garage-dubstep-funky. With it's epic crunked-out synth-line, broken drums and rolling bassline, 'Square One' sums up a year of genre-bending experimentation in one fell swoop. MOSCA's incredible b-side 'Nike' is a 10-minute long dedication to that original rudeboy choice, the Airmax. Starting off with a gorgeous broken hiphop segment, 'Nike' sveltly builds in tempo, sneaking the listener into a 135 bpm dubbed-out Basic Channel-with-autotune banger. The digi EP also comes with a 7-minute edit of 'Nike' at a fixed tempo, for those less extravagant, more up-front club situations. The package is completed by 'Square One' remixes from a Who's Who of UK club music. UK house & funky hero ROSKA applies his gutter house touch, with a pitched 808 bassline designed for droppin' down low. Bristol's rising star JULIO BASHMORE goes big-room with his Longhorn remix, all carnival brass and booming toms. GREENA's mix is a sidechained beast, as sonically inventive as it is dancefloor destroying. Meanwhile Night Slugs label bosses BOK BOK & L-VIS contribute a mix each, respectively crunked up and blissed out. An 8-track deep statement of intent, the 'Square One EP' signals the start of a new era for London club music.

Adrian Kelly aka D-Jak is best known locally as one half of Pig House DJs with his brother Eugene. The pair of them transformed an actual pig house on their family farm in the south east of Ireland and began running 'illegal' house parties that have gained national notoriety for the sheer full on party vibes and quality music. He delivers a stripped down warehouse version full of tension and surely another hit.
